About The Event
“In Ancient times, the pantry could be described as the control center of the domestic economy. It was here that the woman would store her precious herbs and spices, and make lotions, potions and distillations. In doing so, she could be described as the family doctor, pharmacist, herbalist, perfumer, candle maker and pest controller all rolled into one, and the health and well being of everyone in the household was her responsibility.”
~ Stephanie Donaldson
Ok now, we do NOT live in those times anymore… and thank the goddess, of feminism!! Yet, the one constant is the tremendous amount of healing our plants provides us with. Modern Herbalism doesn’t have to be time consuming nor a career choice necessarily. It can be applied to our busy lives in a convenient and efficient manner.
During this workshop, we will discuss the ways we can use plants to heal ourselves not only physically but emotionally and spiritually as well.
We will start by looking into the history of herbalism; it’s different branches, benefits and research. Jaïa Devi will then take us on a exploration of the many ways we can incorporate the healing power of plants into our modern lives, from prevention to treatment navigating it’s many uses in the kitchen, bathroom to what fits in our purse… all aiming to inspire sustainable lifestyle changes.
Jaïa Devi will then remind us that using herbal medicine to heal ourselves is also a spiritual exchange. When we ask plants to share energy with us we are inviting an experience both intimate and ancestral. She aims to remind us of how plant medicine, deeply embedded in our ancestral ways, can offer nourishment and open a willingness to heal.
Trends come and go; herbalism is embedded in our history… It is not going anywhere, it is simply time for us to remember our ways and get with the program!
All participants will receive an educational handout as well as a herbal goodie for you to keep ;)
Green blessings,
~ Jaïa Devi
